Marfeel Compass Attribution now delivers more accurate conversion tracking by connecting user activity across anonymous and authenticated sessions.
When visitors browse your content anonymously and later log in to complete a conversion, the attribution system previously could only track activity tied to a single identifier. This update enables the system to recognize that the same person was active before and after authentication, providing a complete view of their journey to conversion.
How it works
The system now indexes relationships between anonymous user identifiers and registered user accounts. When a conversion occurs, it searches for relevant hits using both the anonymous session ID and any registered user ID associated with that visitor. This dual-matching approach ensures conversions are properly attributed even when users switch between logged-out and logged-in states during their journey.
What this means for you
You will see more complete attribution data, particularly for sites where users authenticate partway through their journey. Conversions that previously appeared to come from users with minimal engagement history will now show the full sequence of interactions, including pre-login activity. This gives editorial, product, and marketing teams a more accurate understanding of what content and touchpoints drive registered users to convert.
This enhancement is live now for all Compass Attribution customers. No configuration or setup required.
